Mobile testing as a flexible alternative to laboratory testing
Mobile testing offers our customers a highly flexible and often more cost-effective alternative to traditional laboratory testing. Instead of transporting components or façade elements with considerable effort, they can be assembled and prepared directly at the manufacturing site or project location. A test engineer from the gbd Testing, Technology and Training Center then travels to the site to carry out the required tests.
This approach provides several advantages: long and costly transport routes are eliminated, logistics are significantly simplified, and adjustments can be implemented at short notice. If components are missing or optimizations are required during preparation, it is much easier to react flexibly on site than in a stationary laboratory.
Mobile air-water-wind testing with gbd
To enable testing of air permeability, watertightness, and wind resistance outside the laboratory, gbd developed a mobile air-water-wind test rig several years ago. With this system, our engineers can perform all relevant test procedures directly at the customer’s site – regardless of location.

In 2026, we are expanding our range of mobile façade testing solutions with a particularly flexible option: the LWW-Mobile-Mini. The key feature of this system is that, for the first time, the test rig can also be rented. This allows customers to carry out pre-tests independently and optimize their components in advance. A gbd expert is only required on site for the final main test and certification.
This concept not only reduces costs but also enables much more efficient test preparation.
How does a mobile air-water-wind test work?
The process of a mobile test using the LWW-Mobile-Mini is clearly structured and designed for ease of use.
1. Inquiry
Send us your request—ideally including all relevant information about your component as well as technical drawings. Our experts will review feasibility and coordinate the next steps with you.
2. Test planning
You will receive a structured to-do list to ensure smooth preparation and efficient execution of the tests.
3. Transport of the test rig
The LWW-Mobile-Mini weighs approximately 250 kg and consists of two mobile units. It fits easily into a van and can either be picked up by you or delivered to your site via a forwarding service.
4. On-site setup
Thanks to the clearly structured assembly instructions, the test rig is ready for operation within about 15 minutes.
5. Performing pre-tests
You can carry out the pre-tests independently. This allows you to test your component multiple times and make adjustments if needed—without additional personnel costs from gbd.
6. Main test and certification
Once the pre-tests are successfully completed and results meet your expectations, a gbd expert conducts the official main test and final certification.

Conclusion: Efficient testing with maximum flexibility
TThe rentable LWW-Mobile-Mini enables a particularly simple and cost-efficient way to carry out air-water-wind tests. Thanks to its compact design, relatively low weight, and mobile usability, the test rig can be used almost anywhere.
Companies benefit from significantly more flexible test planning, reduced logistics costs, and the ability to optimize components independently in advance—before the final test takes place.
